Moulin de Bézard (bézard mill)

Capesterre-de-Marie-Galante

Voir le trajet

The Bézard Mill is on an old sugar plantation located in the municipality of Capesterre, Marie-Galante.

Built in 1840 to mechanically crush sugar cane, this mill ceased operations in 1920 and was heavily damaged by the 1956 hurricane. Restored, it has been listed as a historical monument since 1971, and remains one of the last - and most unique - examples of the ‘one hundred mills’ on the island of Marie-Galante.
