Le fort Fleur d'Epée (fortress)

Fort Fleur d'épée, Gosier

Voir le trajet

Built in Gosier in the 18th century, Fort Fleur d'Epée invites you to step into the past and discover the heritage and history of Guadeloupe.

The fortress is the largest on Grande-Terre. Built to defend Pointe-à-Pitre from the arrival of the English, it fell into their hands in 1794 only to be recovered by the French a few months later with the help of 3,000 former slaves.

A permanent exhibition is located in the basement of the fort. The paintings on exposition are accented by the mystical scenery of stones and shadow. Respite from the heat guaranteed!

Open every day, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
