Grosse Corde river

Capesterre Belle Eau Capesterre-Belle-Eau Basse-Terre

Voir le trajet

Lesser known than the Paradise basin, small pockets of hot water await in the otherwise bracing cold of the Grosse Corde river. Nature meets luxury here, an experience we have come to expect in Guadeloupe... On site, the baths can be spotted by the small waterfall to their right. Subject to the rains, the waterfall is at times only a thin trickle of water streaming down the stone wall. At its base you will find small natural erosions. The water in them is warm, hot, and sometimes icy! Le Graal, or the Grail, is the hottest and largest, and can fit four or five people. The water can reach 40 °C, so take your time getting in! Very popular on weekends.

Directions
The hot springs are not marked. At the end of the road that leads to the reception area of the chutes du Carbet in Capesterre, a bridge spans the Grosse Corde River. Park before the bridge in the indentation to the right. To the left of the road, a small trail, often muddy, enters the forest. Take it to the end, then walk up the river a few meters to the small waterfall on the right. Advice: Try to visit during the week to avoid the crowds. The trail and the bank of the river are often slippery, so take precautions to ensure your safety.

DO NOT GO WHEN RAINING OR IF IT HAS RAINED DAY(S) PRIOR.
